The depth for each spot can vary quite a bit. If your bobber is more than 5 ft from the shore or a protruding rock or weed bed, chances are the water is too deep there for float fishing. Focus on the areas along the shoreline and around the edges of weed beds.

I find the pegs from the bridge all the way around to the waterfall are the most productive for bait fishing. Tea bagging the same hole over and over will net fewer fish, and prevent you from learning the water. Once you've worked all the available shoreline from a certain peg, move to the next peg and start over.

Once you've caught 1-2 fish in one little nook, cast somewhere else. Some of these little crannies hold every species in the lake. Nearly every nook and cranny along the shoreline holds at least one species of fish during those hours. I usually float fish exclusively from 5-7 am and 7-9 pm, and often get 50 lbs or more of fish that way. I have wasted many days, sat in the cold and the rain, watching a motionless float, and many frosty morning out deadbaiting for Pike, only to catch a rotten cold, lol. If folks hate the grind, then maybe fishing is not a thing for them. I reckon I have worked out every dip, bump, and hollow at the top peg, and am getting to know the lie of the ground on the lower peg. I would like to have a do at the carp but I can wait. Just like my local waters, only I can not do it in real world anymore. Then popping downstream for a little bit of piking. Sometimes just wasting whole days, trying to get little panfish, then hitting the Bass or Cats.
